Troja is making significant energy efficiency improvements with the support of the Altum energy efficiency program.

SIA "Troja" is one of the leading plywood processors in Europe. The company has embarked on a major project to improve energy efficiency at its production facility in Salaspils Municipality. This project is being implemented with the support of the Development Finance Institution ALTUM, funded by the European Union Recovery Fund, with SIA "Troja" receiving co-financing of EUR 584,000. These improvements will help reduce the company's energy consumption and promote sustainable development.

Energy Efficiency Measures at the Production Facility

The goal of the project is to reduce energy consumption and costs while improving the company's production infrastructure. The key measures include the reconstruction of the exterior walls of the production building using composite panels, replacement of the roof's waterproofing covering, window replacement, and installation of a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery. Plans also include the introduction of a cooling system and improvements to the lighting system to further optimize energy consumption.

The expected primary energy savings after the project implementation will be 234.17 MWh per year, which represents 31% of current consumption. This will allow the company to significantly reduce costs and contribute to climate change mitigation by decreasing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 44.03 tCO2 annually.

Comment from SIA "Troja" Management

"This project is an important step in our company's sustainability strategy. Our goal is not only to improve production efficiency but also to reduce our environmental impact. Improving energy efficiency gives us the opportunity to be more competitive in the market by reducing operating costs," commented Jānis Biķis, Chairman of the Board of SIA "Troja."

The Importance of Results for Company Development

These improvements are expected to drive the development of SIA "Troja" by reducing energy costs and increasing production efficiency. This will positively impact the company's turnover and enable it to offer its products more competitively in the market. It is forecasted that the total energy consumption in the building after the project’s completion will be 280.91 MWh per year, while the primary energy consumption will reach 520.53 MWh per year.
