SIA "Troja," with the help of "Altum," will install a solar panel park at its factory in Salaspils Municipality.
SIA "Troja," one of the leading plywood processors in Europe, is expanding its investment in environmentally friendly solutions by installing a solar power station for self-consumption with co-financing from the Development Finance Institution "Altum," funded by the European Union Recovery Fund. As part of the project, the company will install a 220 kW solar power station with a total capacity of at least 259.26 kWp, which will reduce CO2 emissions by 19.74 tCO2 per year and lower electricity costs in the long term.
This step complements SIA "Troja's" existing sustainable initiatives. The company's factory in Riga, Bauskas Street 143, already features a solar panel park and electric vehicle charging stations. Additionally, to promote eco-friendly transportation, the company has purchased several electric vehicles, thus reducing emissions from transport.
Now, the company will also install solar panels and inverters on its production building in Salaspils Municipality to use 80% of the generated electricity for its own needs. The total cost of the project is EUR 148,920.78, with EUR 44,676.23 in co-financing from ALTUM.
"With this project, we continue our journey toward greater energy independence and more sustainable operations. The solar panel park will not only help reduce our CO2 emissions but will also lower costs in the long term and improve production efficiency," says Jānis Biķis, Board Member of SIA "Troja."
SIA "Troja," a subsidiary of AS "Latvijas Finieris," specializes in birch plywood processing. The company offers finished products such as road signs, office furniture, acoustic panels, and rocking horses in Latvia.
