SIA “TROJA” installs one of the largest solar panel parks in Latvia.

Investing in green energy production, the plywood processing company SIA "Troja" has installed 593 solar panels with a total capacity of 222 kW at its production facility in Riga, creating one of the largest solar panel parks in Latvia. The Riga City Construction Board has accepted the facility for operation.

The solar panels installed on the production building will generate up to 183,000 kWh of green electricity annually, which is 12% of the factory's total electricity consumption. By utilizing the advantages of green energy, the creation of the solar panel park will help save 19.31 tons of CO2 emissions every year and reduce the company's long-term costs.

The company plans to recover its investment of 130,000 EUR in the project over 8 years. The project was carried out in collaboration with SIA “PV Service” and SIA “EG Inženieri”.

Improving processes related to the implementation of sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions has been one of the key priorities for the plywood processing company SIA “Troja”.

"In recent years, as 'Troja' has significantly increased production capacity and expanded its range of products, the need to reduce both rising electricity costs and greenhouse gas emissions has grown. We have replaced lighting with energy-efficient LED bulbs, collaborated with KPFI on the project 'Comprehensive Solutions for Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions,' and last year we introduced an energy management system (ISO 50001) and installed several electric vehicle charging stations. The next opportunity we saw was the creation of our own solar panel park, which we plan to expand in the future," says Modris Krauja, the company's technical director.

SIA “Troja,” a subsidiary of AS "Latvijas Finieris," is one of the leading plywood processing companies in Europe. Its core business involves processing and cutting birch plywood components, mainly for the transportation and construction industries. The company also manufactures higher value-added products, such as rocking horses, office furniture, road signs, acoustic panels, and more.
